Dame Shirley Porter is one of the richest women in Britain, with a fortune worth more than pounds 50million.

Like Margaret Thatcher, she is a grocer's daughter. Her dad, Sir Jack Cohen, was the founder of Tesco's. He worked his way up from being a barrow boy in the East End of London, where Shirley was born in 1930.

Mrs Thatcher was her heroine and she ran Westminster Council as ruthlessly as Maggie ran Britain. She describes herself as "fearsome".
