Introduction
Women's oral documentation and autobiographies can often be pivotal factors in understanding the Holocaust from a broader perspective. By letting the survivor speak for herself she becomes a subject--and not only an object--of history. Due to its very nature, oral history in particular, which in its purest form generates a dynamic interaction between interviewer and interviewee, can also create a positive environment for engendered and intimate discussions of otherwise taboo issues.
