ORange Order brethren will be prevented from paying their respects to the dead of two world wars at Londonderry Cenotaph tomorrow, according to reliable sources in the city yesterday.

It is understood republicans are planning to occupy the Diamond area, where the war memorial is situated, to try to prevent the Co Londonderry Twelfth demonstration, including the memorial tribute.

The republican city-centre occupation is expected to begin tonight after three huge nationalist marches, organised by the Bogside Residents Group, converges on the Diamond.
