1. FRANCE'S CARREFOUR AND CONTINENT MERGE.

Two France's hypermarkets Carrefour and Continent, from the time they started operation in Indonesia, have drawn complaints from local retail companies. The two retail giants were considered aggressive and expansive amid the crisis that undermined the country's economy.
Early 2000, the parent companies of the two giants in France merged and the merger has been registered with the European Commission in January 2000 to be followed directly with the combination of the management of around 9,000 outlets of the two companies in 26 countries including Indonesia.
