THE late John Walsh cast a long shadow over last week's Waterloo Cup. It was almost exactly a year since 'Father John', as the former Roman Catholic priest was affectionately known, had died suddenly in his early fifties.
Walsh once owned Suncrest Tina, brilliant winner of this year's blue riband of coursing. For him she had won the Trial Stake at Westmeath before falling in the second round of the 1999 Oaks to the eventual runner-up, Tivoli Sonia. ...
