A strong purchasing/IT relationship is helping to propel Brunswick Corp.'s efforts at consolidating the non-traditional services buy of its six divisions.

Recently, purchasing and IT worked as a team to put together agreements with two telecom suppliers for the entire corporation. The new arrangement, which significantly reduced the supplier base, has resulted in 20% cost savings on the company's $7 million annual telecom purchase.
