Mar. 28--DURHAM, N.C.--Triangle Pharmaceuticals has tapped company veteran Chris Rallis to be president and chief operating officer of the drug-development company.

Rallis, 46, replaces company co-founder Nick Ellis. Ellis, who had expected to eventually succeed David Barry as chief executive officer, resigned in frustration last month after Barry changed his mind and decided to remain in charge of the business.
