Anglers fishing Loch Leven are being asked to take part in a major new survey when the season starts tomorrow.
Scientists examining the loch's unique strain of brown trout want to know as much about them as they possibly can.
Are stocks diminishing? How fast do they grow? What parts of the loch do they inhabit? Has the introduction of rainbow trout caused them any problem?
As from tomorrow, all anglers who catch and kill a Loch Leven brownie are being asked to show their fish to the experts and to answer a few questions.
