Lloyd's is providing high-quality, medium-sized insurers with a means to become international businesses by starting up their own Lloyd's syndicates, two officials at PXRE say.

With a subsidiary syndicate at Lloyd's, a mid-sized U.S. insurer would immediately get direct insurance licenses in 60 countries, said Alastair Rodger, business development manager for PXRE Managing Agency Limited, the Lloyd's managing agency that is taking the lead on providing insurers with a gateway into Lloyd's.
