The attractive Herefordshire village of Kingsland can lay claim to England's most expensive village green.

In a staggering example of community fund-raising, villagers managed to get enough support to pay pounds 350,000 for a 1 acre field scheduled for development to turn it into a village green.

The former pig field is perfectly placed between the village's 13th century parish church and an attractive array of period properties on the other side of the main street.
