Staff at Nuneaton's Co-op store were evacuated today when a blaze in the restaurant filled corridors with smoke.

About 70 people had to leave the Queens Road department store at 8.55am, when fire alarms sounded minutes before the doors were opened to customers.

Fire-fighters found a catering size chip frier in flames.

A third appliance and crew arrived later to relieve two night crews.
