CRAIG BROWN last night challenged Eoin Jess to prove he is ready to grow up and lead Scotland into Euro 2000.

Brown admitted he is facing the toughest period of his six-and-a-half year reign as Scotland's manager and has turned to the Aberdeen striker for help.

Jess has been having a good season - his best yet, by his own admission - and at 28 he knows he is fast running out of time to make a significant impression at international level.
