Commonwealth shuns Pakistan; Special mission set to meet military rulers.(News)

Pakistan has been suspended from all councils of the Commonwealth, the organisation's ministerial action group announced after a meeting in London yesterday.

The action group called on the military regime in Islamabad to set "without delay" a time-frame for the restoration of a democratically- elected government.

Group chairman Dr Stan Mudenge said that suspension automatically followed a change of rule in a country "by military or illegitimate means".
