Pink Cristal initiated a stakes-race double for trainer Henry Candy when holding off last week's Nassau Stakes third Diamond White in the Valiant Stakes (Listed) at Ascot yesterday, writes Bruce Jackson.
While Candy was in Ireland to complete the double with Gorse in the Group 3 Phoenix Sprint at Leopardstown, assistant David Pinder could not quite believe the achievement possible, with the stable having struck only seven times this season.
