Mar. 17--Legend Airlines Inc. stands to lose the momentum that it had gained for an upcoming battle with American Airlines Inc. as a delay of the start-up carrier's launch stretches into a third week, some industry experts warn.

"The longer they wait," said Steve Jaffe, an analyst at Avitas, an aviation consulting firm in Chantilly, Va., "the more time American and company will have to get going and provide some meaningful competition."
