Paris fashions in Kleist's Berliner Abendblatter.

The Berliner Abendblatter was a pocket-sized daily newspaper, edited by Heinrich von Kleist, a dramatist and short-story writer, between 1810 and 1811. His entries on Paris fashion are related to remarks in his correspondence on ladies' fashions and on Paris which link with unnaturalness, profligacy, ostentation, and moral degeneracy. These indirect expressions of an anti-Napoleonic patriotism transcend differences between reactionary and reformist forces in Prussia.
