Mar. 1--New Jersey's economy reached a milestone in January as the state's unemployment rate fell below the 4 percent barrier and, for the first time in almost a decade, below the national unemployment rate.
As payrolls expanded and the ranks of the unemployed thinned, the state's unemployment rate dipped to 3.9 percent, down from 4.2 percent in December, the state Department of Labor reported yesterday.
The lowest unemployment rate in slightly more than a decade in New Jersey is good news for job seekers, but it's causing headaches for many employers.
