Almost no one loves a rattlesnake. It's not a cuddly animal and not one to make you stop and play. But even though you may want to stay away, you can admire the rattlesnake as an animal finely tuned in to nature.

There are a lot of different kinds of rattlesnakes that live in a wide variety of places, from forests to deserts. A feature they all have in common is that they are ambush predators. They lie quietly with head slightly raised, camouflaged by their coloration, waiting for a mouse or other small prey.
