Turpentine Stays at 50 Cents With Little Near-Term Change.

CRUDE SULFATE TURPENTINE has settled at 50 cents per gallon for the first quarter of 2000. The price is effective January 1 and remains unchanged from last quarter. Following a year of quarterly drops of 25 cents, CST has landed firmly at the bottom of its historic pricing cycle and appears likely to stay there for the near term.

CST pricing remains weak primarily because of bloated inventories. According to the Pulp Chemical Associations' monthly statistics, the industry had inventories of 4.8 million gallons last October, a level relatively unchanged from the ...
