Producers are confident of a strong year despite the runup in styrene costs.
THROUGHOUT 1999, polystyrene experienced a strong upward trend in pricing, despite some resistance from buyers, after several years of declining prices. However, raw material costs have kept pace with the increases, and suppliers are not ruling out further price hikes in early 2000. Demand remains healthy, and little new capacity is coming on next year.
