Another paper at Materialica, by Fairchild-Dornier, offered an overview of composites development and application on Dornier aircraft during the last 20 years. Innovations were highlighted, including the unique, integral aft fuselage and empennage on the DO-328 and derivative 328 Jet. This appears to be unique, in either commercial or military aviation, and includes a hybrid Kevlar/carbon fiber epoxy composite aft pressure bulkhead, also a first.
