Air shows in the United States are safe for audiences despite Tuesday's crash at a Manassas airport that killed a pilot performing aerobatics as 12,000 students watched, air safety specialists say.

That crash came a month after two pilots died at a Florida airport while performing aerobatics for a crowd of 5,000 spectators. But, pilots, not spectators, face the biggest risk.
