The District has new meters but the money is not rolling in - yet.

Workers have installed 5,200 new meters so far - about a third of all meters scheduled in the city - while revenue since installation began in February has dropped almost $400,000 compared with last year when thousands of broken, headless meters were in place.

The low revenue stems from a decline in issued parking tickets, which itself is a result of the sheer number of meters still out of service. In addition, last month there were fewer ticket writers on the city's payroll compared with ...
