Nevada, the seventh largest state, encompassing 110,540 square miles, contains both sedimentary and igneous rocks of every geological age from Precambrian to Recent. Active tectonism throughout the state has resulted in complex structural deformation with attendant mineralization continuing up to the present, as represented by numerous geothermal areas.
