Dec. 10 -- Francis Mackay makes no secret of his ambition to feed the world's workers. His Compass contract catering group is in 75 countries.

He serves up meals in canteens at Microsoft and Ford, on railway stations and at the World Cup and other sporting events.

But could he find himself being served up on an arch rival's table? Compass was floated out of the former GrandMet by Gerry Robinson who went on to run media giant Granada. It owns the Sutcliffe catering business which has 25 percent of the UK market.
