NEW YORK -- A new luxury conglomerate is born.

WWD has learned that Gucci will announce on Monday it has clinched the deal to purchase the house of Yves Saint Laurent from its ally, French retail giant Pinault-Printemps-Redoute.

According to highly reliable sources, PPR has overcome several crucial snags related to the merger of YSL fashion with Gucci Group NV.
