Paul Taylor Dance Company at the Shubert Theatre, Boston, last night; through tomorrow.

Paul Taylor is at his best when creating dances that tease the imagination, and "Arabesque," on last night's program by the Paul Taylor Dance Company at the Shubert Theatre, was the perfect example of Taylor on a roll.

Second on the program, presented by the BankBoston Celebrity Series, "Arabesque" began with eight dancers posed like Greek statues against a wall of blue. A line of them darted across the stage, and images of cherubs, Greek bathers and seductresses flitted to mind.
