Jim Wright, the House speaker who resigned in disgrace in May 1989 rather than face the music over an ethics investigation, has been popping up all over the place lately. He is now cast in the role of ironic counterpoint to House Speaker Newt Gingrich - who came to prominence for his attacks on Mr. Wright and who now has ethics troubles of his own. There Mr. Wright was on "This Week" yesterday, solemnly averring that he himself resigned only for the good of the House he loved and urging Mr. Gingrich to look to his conscience to determine the right course.
