BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - "I love the irresponsibility of acting," Michael Douglas remarks by way of explanation for his presence as a strictly stellar attraction in the new suspense thriller "The Game."
Frequently a producer or co-producer, Mr. Douglas was freed from off-camera obligations on this $65 million caprice, in which he was considered an indispensable leading man. It's a safe estimate that about 20 percent of the budget represents Mr. Douglas' compensation.
