I found the article "Kansas getting ready to swap statues in Capitol" (April 17) informative - but also alarming.

If other states follow the lead of Kansas, we may find a version of musical chairs for statues in the U.S. Capitol in which states would switch their two statues at will depending on the political power dominant in the state.

Let's take Georgia, for example. We may discover that physician Crawford W. Long is too unknown and Alexander Hamilton Stephens, vice president of the Confederacy, is too politically incorrect. The present powers in ...
