Yesterday was the centenary of Humphrey Bogart's birth: Jan. 23, 1899. Given the enduring appeal of his best movies, four of which placed in the top 25 in the American Film Institute's recent survey of the "100 Greatest" - "Casablanca" at No. 2, "The African Queen" at No. 17, "The Maltese Falcon" at No. 23 and "Treasure of the Sierra Madre" at No. 3 - it seems a little odd that commemorative programs were nowhere to be seen in the expected places. Evidently, both Turner Classic Movies, which enjoys custody of most of the Bogart library, and American Movie Classics ...
