Keith Poulter's article "Did Meade miss chance to destroy Lee's army?" (The Civil War, July 10) makes a compelling argument.

Yet there are two mitigating factors that Mr. Poulter did not tell the reader to explain why Gen. George Gordon Meade was cautious in pursuit of Gen. Robert E. Lee's army after Gettysburg. Mr. Poulter failed to inform the reader that Meade met with his generals after the battle and that all but one of them voted against attacking Lee.
