Is it the singer or the song? Does a good tune rely more on the composer's craftwork or a singer's performance?
Three approaches were in force at the Middle East Tuesday, where a tag team of alternative-rock notables, including R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck and Screaming Trees drummer Barrett Martin, produced three different answers.
