The Massachusetts International Festival of the Arts scored quite a coup in bringing British theater and film star Vanessa Redgrave and her mother, Rachel Kempson Redgrave, to Springfield to perform their new program of concert readings by Anton Chekhov.

Several of the stories were discovered and translated into English by Peter Constantine.

Any live appearance of Vanessa Redgrave would seem a thrill for a theater lover, but this outing required patience.
