About 50 disgruntled Boston Globe staffers presented their editor and publisher with a letter yesterday saying the newspaper's handling of the Mike Barnicle affair was a "national embarrassment," sources said.
Noting the call for Barnicle's resignation was appropriate, the statement went on to say, "The reversal by Globe management not only cripples the paper's integrity, but undermines the efforts of staff members who work daily to produce a newspaper that is beyond reproach.
