The game's the same. It's the snacks that have changed.

Instead of coffee, cake and nonpareils, it's ice water with lemon, fat-free popcorn and fresh-cut vegetables.

A healthy mah-jongg player is, after all, a happy mah-jongg player.

"It goes great with a bottle of wine," said Melissa Silk, a 39-year-old Needham mom who learned to play from a neighbor four months ago.
