Francis T. Downey Jr. of North Weymouth, a retired computer programmer, died Monday at his home in Hull after a lengthy illness. He was 67.

Born and raised in Cambridge, Mr. Downey graduated from St. John's Prep and later from Dartmouth College.

He served in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Downey was employed as a computer programmer for John Hancock Life Insurance Co. He was a member of the Father O'Brien Council Knights of Columbus of North Weymouth and the Dartmouth College Alumni Association.
