DEATH OF SCARLATTI
Domenico Scarlatti died in Madrid on this day in 1757. He was 71.
Scarlatti had worked for the King of Portugal tutoring his daughter, who became Queen of Spain and Scarlatti spent his later years working for her in Madrid. She loved him so much that she repeatedly paid off his gambling debts.
Scarlatti who like Bach and Handel had been born in 1685 is not as well-known as those two composers...but a case can be made that ...
