INDUSTRY OFFICIALS have told White House trade officials that they oppose the Administration's plan to impose 100 percent duties on imports of lanolin from the European Union.
The proposed duty is in retaliation for the EU's failure to implement a World Trade Organization finding that it is illegal for Europe to prohibit US exports of beef treated with hormones.
The office of the US Trade Representative has put together a target list of imported EU products that could be hit with 100 percent duties. USTR plans to publish its final list by May 13.
