The creation story in Genesis 1:1-2:3 incorporates a sense of power and simplicity that overwhelms the reader. However, several complexities surround the creation story. These complexities, which correlate with the grammatical irregularity in the first sentence and differences against the story in Genesis 2:4-25, result from the failure to capture the depth of the text during the translation.
