The Charlotte Islands eighty miles off the coast of British Columbia, Canada, represent an unusual choice for ecotourists. The islands were out of the path of glaciers in the last ice age because of the warm Pacific Ocean currents, and many species of plants and animals there exist nowhere else. The Haida people who live there are respected for artistic work.
