Sodium Silicates Market Remains Soft Despite Industrywide Consolidation.

AFTER SEVERAL YEARS of rationalization and consolidation, the sodium silicate industry is yet to fall into balance as limited overcapacity has eroded pricing in several regions. Sodium silicates current troubles stem from softness in two of its markers: pulp and paper and the Asia-Pacific region. The pulp and paper industry has been going through an extended slump, and the countries in the Pacific Rim have been suffering through an economic crisis for more than a year.
