This paper assesses the effects of mothers' and fathers' class positions -
measured in terms of Marxist class categories - on the educational
attainment of male and female offspring in Canada. Our data are from a
national representative sample of Canadians. Multivariate analyses show
that, for offspring of both genders, the class positions of fathers and
