NEW YORK-From songbirds to retro reproductions, both novelty and style are keeping clock sales ticking this quarter, according to retailers and manufacturers. New technological features, from louder alarms to built-in sound conditioners, are also helping drive sales.
"Our clock business for the quarter has been very good," said a clock buyer for a Midwest-based specialty store. "If we continue, we'll exceed expectations." He noted strong sales from novelty wall clocks and clocks in brightly colored, handpainted styles.
