When a newspaper in Brazil was left with a warehouse full of mini- Legos after a promotional event in January, it wasn't sure what to do with the toys. Then it found Atwood Richards.

The Manhattan-based company is a leading player in the corporate barter business, an industry that has grown in the 1990s as companies seek alternative markets for surplus goods. In exchange for the Legos, Atwood gave the newspaper credit toward the purchase of other products in the barter firm's inventory.
