NV Bekaert SA of Kortrijk, Belgium, and Humeca BV of Enschede, The Netherlands, are to set up a 50:50 joint venture in the medical sector.

The initial objective of the new company, to be called Bekaert Timeda BV, is to develop, manufacture and sell a new type of percutaneous catheter principally for use in peritoneal dialysis (PD). It is planned that other applications for the medical sector based on metal fibres will also be developed.
