Trees and other forms of biomass should be utilized as energy sources in place of fossil fuels that emit carbon dioxide, aside from acting as carbon sinks. The use of biomass as a fossil fuel substitute offers many environmental and social benefits, such as its ability to be converted to electricity, heat as well as liquid and gaseous fuels.
