Judging by inaugural year results, the Basque government's decision to spend copious sums of money on a Guggenheim outpost has paid off [see A.i.A., July '97]. From October 1997 to October 1998, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao (GMB) received 1.36 million visitors, three times as many as expected. Attracted by Frank O.
