Africalogical research was, until the 1930s, dominated by Afrocentrists whose approaches were based on historical research. Researchers since the 1970s have concentrated on linguistic views of Egypt as of African origin with genetic links between Egyptian and Black African languages, with a third group since the 1980s combining historical and linguistic explorations of African heritage.
