Zapatalite, [MATHEMATICAL EXPRESSION NOT REPRODUCIBLE IN ASCII], is pale blue with a pale blue streak, a hardness of 1.5, and a density of 3.016. It occurs as massive, poorly crystalline material filling cavities, and its symmetry is tetragonal. It was found in a small prospect near Naco, Cerro Morita, 27 kilometers southwest of Agua Prieta, Sonora. The mineral is named for Emiliano Zapata, a popular hero of the Mexican Revolution.
